Tip #1 First you have to write the book. If the inspiration for this is hard to come by. Looking into your own life is always an interesting way to get things started. The classic advice would be to write what you know. But I didn't know anything about barista's and coffee until I started writing 'Note to Self'. But there was one thing I did have, experience with retail and a million books and friends that did know about coffee. Tip #3 Always have a pen and notebook with you. Because you never know when an idea is gonna hit you. Believe me when I say this, if you stepped inside my apartment you will find little scraps of paper and reciepts with my teeny tiny writing in it. You develop certain skills, like how to write alot of stuff in a 6 inch piece of paper. |
Tip #2 Write everyday. NO MATTER WHAT. Rain or shine, whatever. Even if it's a silly little sentence that your probably gonna get rid off later, write. Because if you keep putting it off until tomorrow, next thing you know 3 weeks of 'tomorrow' have come and gone and you haven't done anything. Assignment #1 Write a paragraph with this setting and character. See what happens! Setting: Front steps of house. Character: A thirteen year old girl. email me at lizdejesus23@yahoo.com if you want me to read what you came up with. |
